サリチル酸は角質溶解薬　（内果皮除去剤）です。サリチル酸は、皮膚の外層の分断を引き起こす。外用で （身体の表面上に）、にきび、フケ、脂漏または乾癬、皮膚硬結、タコ及びいぼの治療薬として用いられている。
